Looks like our holiday snaps are proving popular with online travel guide Schmap. Having received confirmation of the inclusion of my Eiffel Tower photo into the Paris guide, I have now also had two further photos shortlisted to be included in some of Schmap’s other guides. They are: (left) The Porcelain Museum, Boboli Gardens, Florence; and (right) The Royal Academy, London.
I just received notice that one of my photos on Flickr has been short-listed for inclusion in the ninth edition of the Schmap Paris Guide, to be published late November 2009.
Schmap is an online travel guide, and does not offer payment to photographers should they decide to opt in; however, it does give exposure to work that has been put in a public space in order to be seen, and hopefully enjoyed, by other people.
Given that photography is barely even a hobby for me, I am really pleased that Flickr has enabled me to share my work. I am mindful however, that the democratisation of creative arts via social media and accessible equipment, does take income away from professional photographers, artists and designers.
