The selections in the following galleries represent an edit of my recent artwork. Some are educational studies, some are commissions, and some are simply subjects that pleased me to paint. My main focus is on the discipline of working from life – utilising traditional techniques of draughtsmanship and developing a philosophy of seeing whereby the essential selections made by the artist transcend the straightforward copying of nature.

Unless indicated with a red dot, all work is available to buy. Please contact me for further details.

Hello Helen- new Twitter friend! Really liking your dead bird and life drawings. Twitter has been so educational for me. So fast- to see what great things people are doing – it’s helped me link with artists with similar aims. It’s my new way of learning now that I’m no longer a formal student. I shall enjoy seeing what you do!
    Well done you!

I was looking at paintings by William Nicolson and then found your wonderful work. After a long period of artisic drought you have inspired me to get out my paints again. Thank you from one Helen to another.
