Charcoal Portrait
Following on from my previous post, a life-size charcoal portrait really is something that I haven’t done for a long time. I feel that I got back to basics with this, and very much enjoyed it. I’m pleased with the results. It’s a very good likeness, although I think there was an imperceptible angle at the corner of the eye that I had captured the day before finishing that gave her a slightly more sympathetic characterisation which was truer to the person I got to know through the sittings. Portraiture really can come down to the very tiniest of margins.
Progress shots follow.
