New term figure drawing

I struggled to get back into figure drawing after a 3 week Easter break. This is the first study of the new term. I kept things quite sketchy and open, still experimenting with charcoal mark-making. I got a bit too focussed on the portrait, and spent too long on it at the expense of other aspects of the drawing. Still, I like the pose and am considering gridding up the drawing to make a painting from it. That will be a first, so could be interesting to try.

I photographed this just after I’d sprayed it with fixitive, so the surface doesn’t quite look true to the original. Still, it’s a study. You get the idea.
